The KBC all-stars, sponsored by Lux Homes, went 5-o in the regional tournament against North Seattle, Bothell Express and the KBC Battle Cats. Lux knocked off Bothell, 7-3, in the championship game.

Fundraisers planned

To help defray the costs of traveling to California the team is holding a celebration and fundraiser Friday (July 17) at 7 p.m. at the Eagles Club at 258 Central Way in Kirkland. There will be an additional fundraiser Tuesday, July 22 at Acropolis Pizza and Pasta, 500 Central Way, Kirkland). Acropolis owners George & Happy Tsantilas will donate a portion of all that night’s receipts to the all-stars.

Anyone who can’t attend these events but would like to help can mail a check to Kirkland Baseball Commission c/o Lux 16U All-Stars, 218 Main Street #335, Kirkland WA 98033.

Congratulations and thanks to coaches Curtis Ferguson and John Lux and this terrific group of young men. Good luck in San Jose!

Fabri Thunder wins Memorial Day tournament

May 30, 2014

FabriThunderBaseball_Champs

In the first year of Fabri Thunder Baseball having two teams, both Gold and Black advanced to the Cascade Division semifinals of the 2014 Kirkland Pony Baseball Memorial Day Tournament.

Thunder Black 13u narrowly edged Thunder Gold Cascade on Memorial Day to advance to the championship game. Michael Fitzsimmons was the winning pitcher.

“At the beginning of the season we hoped to see each other at the end of the tournament, we just hoped it was one game later and we didn’t have to knock each other out,” said Coach Pablo Guerrero.

Thunder Black squared off with the Eagles in the championship showdown. Emily Tsujikawa pitched a gem through 7 1/3 innings for the win. The Eagles mounted 3-run rally in the seventh, but it was not enough to over come Thunder’s 7 runs.

Congratulations and thanks to all the teams who participated and helped make this a terrific tournament.

Tournament update and results

May 26, 2014

From our Commissioner and Tournament Director, Glen Beard:

We played all games today except we were rained out at Lee Johnson at 7:45 PM.  We canceled that last game of the day. Lee Johnson is not playable tonight and is a question mark for tomorrow.

We have moved the semifinal Pony and Colt locations and times to see if we can finish tomorrow

Pony will play at 9 a.m. at Kirkland Junior High and Juanita High School

Colt will play at both locations at 11:15 a.m., right after the Pony game.

I’m hoping the city can save some time on Lee Johnson tomorrow.  If they can’t I will advise you as soon as I know regarding championship games.

All other games were canceled as I am not sure I can get in the games we have scheduled tomorrow.
